
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) is a UK VHS release by Warner Home Video on 7th November 1988, and then it got re-released by MGM/UA Home Video on 6th November 1995 and 26th October 1998. It got re-released on UK DVD by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Home Entertainment on 17 November 2003, 8 August 2005, 22 September 2014, and 6th November 2017. It got re-released on UK Blu Ray by MGM on 5th November 2018.
This British musical fantasy film stars American actor Dick Van Dyke as the inventor Caractacus Potts who invents a magical car that flies.
The film also aired on BBC One on Boxing Day 1974 & 1986, 29th December 1989 and Christmas Eve 1991 & 1993, Channel 5 on 11th April 2020, ITV1 on New Year's Eve 2022, Boxing Day 2023, 29th December 2024 and New Year's Day 2025.

The part of Truly Scrumptious had originally been offered to Julie Andrews, to reunite her with Van Dyke after their success in Walt Disney's Mary Poppins (1964). Andrews rejected the role specifically because she considered that the part was too close to the Poppins mould. Instead, Sally Ann Howes was given the role. Van Dyke was cast after he turned down the role of Faginfrom another 1968 musical Oliver! (which ended up going to Ron Moody).
